Daily Care Journal: System Architecture

In the “Daily Care Journal“ project, the objective of the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering ISST and its partners is the continuous care and nursing documentation of all medical, (pre-)nursing, and everyday services performed by all caregivers. To make the documentation as simple as possible with the help of technical solutions, and to ensure individualized access for every caregiver, the information and data are displayed right where they are gathered: in the residence of the care recipient.

With “Daily Care Journal“, the Fraunhofer Institute ISST and its partners seek to bring together various technical components (such as TV communication, sensors, the nursing management system, and a digital pen) in a targeted way to support nursing management. Establishing appropriate information displays for all persons involved in the nursing process, in order to achieve continuous documentation and, on this basis, optimally structured care, is a significant challenge in this effort. This includes, for example, the evaluation of manually and automatically gathered information on the activities and experiences of the daily life of the care recipient. And, of course, the privacy of the care recipient must be protected throughout.
